LOCATION

Valencia

In a natural enclave, the need arises to adapt an existing house to the needs of the clients while respecting the character of the vernacular constructions of the area and the Mediterranean landscape that characterizes it.

Its sober and luminous skin, together with a careful interior-exterior relationship, generates a serene refuge where nature and architecture coexist in balance.

01_Landscape

The house is set in a natural Mediterranean environment, where native vegetation and clear skies are the protagonists. From the beginning, the project seeks a respectful integration with the site, favoring a harmonious relationship between architecture and nature. The first floor layout and the use of xerophytic species allow the building to emerge without imposing itself, as an extension of the dry and luminous terrain that surrounds it.

02_Object

A clean, horizontal and contained volume was conceived, conveying serenity and balance. The house is not intended to be a landmark, but a discreet refuge in the landscape. The L-shaped layout envelops the outdoor space and generates a sense of seclusion around the pool. Each line of the project has been designed to accompany life naturally, without artifice, as if the architecture had simply found its place.

03_Skin

This brick skin, with a very natural character, with a very special texture and permeable to inclement weather, provides privacy to certain rooms and gives them a pixelized light, as well as forming the skylights that allow light to enter. The brick also acts as a second skin that comforts and gives the house a more domestic atmosphere, more of a home, as opposed to the robustness and hardness of the main concrete envelope. A fluid path through the courtyards of each of the main areas of the house, qualify each of the main areas.
