This house was built on a plot that had spectacular views but was very exposed to the neighboring houses. The owners asked us to maintain the privacy of the common areas facing the exterior. With that goal in mind, we proposed an “L” design that opens to the sea and the mountainside, but is closed to the eyes of the neighbors.
The architecture is open to the sea and the mountains, but withdraws from neighboring views.
01_Landscape
The exterior and most public aspect of the house is sober and hermetic, with the idea that curious glances bounce off the walls. However, once inside the spaces flow and welcome, the views are unobstructed and the landscapes sprout, here and there, with the layout of English courtyards.
02_Object
The house consists of three floors distributed in the two wings that are formed by its “L” structure. On the lower floor there are several English patios that bring lightness and luminosity to the house, but keep the spaces for personal use closed.
03_Skin
A closed rear facade is created to maintain privacy. This hermeticism is broken with the arrangement of a series of English courtyards, which act as small oases of light. On the other hand, the front façade, with the introduction of mobile elements-folding glazing-opens and closes to the landscape, enhancing the use of the spaces with sea views.
